After a great meal with good friends, last night I watched the local news.   And what was "news?"  Cars lined up to enter a shopping mall at 10PM!!

And INTERVIEWS with shoppers! In their cars – with engines running of course –  waiting for fences to open so they could enter the parking lots…

And I think this also backed traffic up onto roads where people might have been, say, trying to go go home after being with family or friends?

But family, friends and tradition are not important anymore – what is important is MONEY and SHOPPING!

So,  I thought, why bother anymore with individual holidays?  Let's start a new season – one I'm calling:  LaborHalloVetThanksXmasNewYear

This way the stores have from early September to early January – 4 whole months – to lure you in with sales…and the stores can stay open 24/7 so as to not miss one single person who wants to spend money.  They can have "specials" at 2 AM or 6 AM or on any day of week at any time!  Make it dinner time – who needs to eat at home!  The food areas of the malls will benefit too…can't forget to spend money at the fast food places can we?

No one will need to feel like they have to spend any time with family – family is such a quaint term anyway.  Shoppers can plan to drive around for days on end going from mall to mall and store to store to get those specials.

This will help the economy and surely help poor Exxon make more money.  And let's not forget the credit card companies – they will benefit as well.

All of this will create good will throughout the world…won't it?

Happy LaborHalloVetThanksXmasNewYear!!
