Slowly, but surely, “the” book is coming along

I’m moving at the literal snails pace, although I sometimes think the snails are faster than me.

Slowly – day by day – I am getting things done for the upcoming “how to write a book when you don’t feel like writing” book. It will have a better title than that, but I’ve been thinking through some ideas like maybe including worksheets or prompts or somethings that work for me and hopefully work for you and/or don’t work for me but might work for you.

I’m enjoying the thinking process, but that’s me.

I always enjoy the thinking process.

It’s the get it down on the computer process that’s hard for me.

And while all this is going on, we had another heat wave along very dangerously dirty air. I got used to dirty air when I lived in Portland, Oregon. Certainly isn’t fun when you’re subjected to the smoky air, but I feel worse for the people up in Canada where the smoke is coming from because they’re losing everything.

Hopefully, we will have a lot of rain soon, which will help slow the fires and clear up the air.

I would definitely encourage including prompts. I love them. They encourage me to write and they help me get past that annoying writers block.
Everyone in northern Ontario is in my prayers. So much devastation. The smoke is hard to deal with, but we have our intact homes. So there is that. I just hope that homeless people are getting the help that they need.

thank you for your comment and I am definitely including different kinds of prompts. I’ve gotten good feedback from people just in their comments and they are setting my brain to work mode. I think prompts is important. Different prompts for different things and different people.

Congratulations on your decision! Becoming a published author is both exciting and distracting. Wishing you all the best as you work through the writing process. I can’t wait to see the finished book.

Thank you… I guess I forgot to include that I am already a published author and have been for 50 years or so. But I really like that you made me stop and think what it’s like to be a new author versus me who could be very cavalier and joking about the fact that it’s hard to sit down and write because I ultimately know I can sit and write because I’ve done it – but new writers wouldn’t now that – so I now have another chapter or part to put in the book for new people. Again thank you for that. I would not have gotten there this quickly myself because one of the things that I know happens is when you know a lot you forget what it’s like to be a beginner.

In the extreme heat it’s very difficult indeed to find the energy to do anything at all! And air and breathing and clean air is oh so important!
Do take care of yourself and stay safe! Best wishes to you 🙂

Thank you! Yesterday’s thunderstorm knocked out a lot of the dirt and the heat, but you’re right when it’s hot, humid, and dirty the energy just dissipates. I don’t fight it anymore. There’s nothing I can do so I just sat around watching a baseball game.
