Welcome to Medicare!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/66.147.242.179\/~graywolf\/growolderbetter\/wp-content\/uploads\/medicare1 copy.jpg\" border=\"2\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"2\" width=\"350\" height=\"245\" align=\"absMiddle\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">On January 1, 2011 the first wave of baby boomers started turning 65 and are now eligible for Medicare&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">Some worry there won&#8217;t be sufficient funds in either Medicare or Social Security to last for the rest of their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">Many boomers will not yet retire as they can not yet afford to do so!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">Welcome to the world of what happens when greed rules!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">There may be no money for you in the years ahead.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">Medicare may be a good plan but the cost of participation tends to increase both on the Government side and the private sector side.\u00a0 Medicare Advantage programs are not free&#8230;even to some say they are &#8230; you get what you pay for&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">And Social Security?\u00a0 We are into the second year of no increase in the monthly payout.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">And if &#8220;some&#8221; in Washington get their way, what&#8217;s left may be privatized &#8211; because it worked so well for us?\u00a0 No &#8211; it worked so well for Wall Street &#8211; we do not matter &#8211; only Wall Street&#8217;s bonuses matter!!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">To add to the worries, if you live in Oregon &#8211; you have another concern if you are in a senior care facility.. or wind up in one&#8230;.because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/health\/index.ssf\/2010\/12\/oregon_ranks_last_in_number_of.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oregon elder care has glaring lacks!<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">Federal law requires states to have an ombudsman to protect the rights of people in long-term care. The average state has one ombudsman monitoring 2,220 beds. <strong>Oregon has just one for 6,692 beds<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">Oregon relies on volunteers..but if everyone needs to keep working to afford to live &#8211; who will be the volunteers taking care of and looking out for Oregon&#8217;s elder population?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;\">Scary thoughts to start your 65th birthdays!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-family: comic sans ms,cursive;\"><span style=\"color: #b22222;\">Thoughts?
