I just had a series of life events – and I don’t believe in coincidences.<\/p>\n
I was coming home from food shopping – a trip which takes me along the Columbia River and past the airport and air national guard base. On my CD player was Bob Dylan’s “With God on Our Side<\/span>” and the verse was this:<\/p>\n But now we got weapons At that very moment two F-15s took off – they do that every day but the timing struck me and I teared up. Will we be shooting off those chemical weapons again?<\/p>\n then the last verse played:<\/p>\n So now as I’m leavin’ King Shrub thinks he has god in his pocket with a direct line to his head but I agree with Dylan – my god would never do what King Shrub is doing. So who’s God is right? I got home in time to hear Russ Feingold being interviewed and saying that there were some other Dems who are with him on the censure – but where are those many others?<\/p>\n I started crying for my usual reasons – sadness that all of what we did in the 60’s to stop the Vietnam war and get rid of Nixon has gone to naught. Here we are repeating history – and what’s worse is that all of the admin were around in the 60’s as were a lot of the current antiwar protestors.<\/p>\n To quote another song – this one from Pete Seeger:<\/p>\n Where have all the graveyards gone? Let’s get going people – if the people lead the leaders will follow. I tend to think it’s Dylan’s – and mine – our God would stop wars – not start them.<\/p>\n
