Who is lynn and why is she ranting?<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/h1>\n

As a teenager, growing up in New York City and watching the McCarthy\u00a0hearings on early TV, I learned that my government was not going to protect its citizens.\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The non-response to McCarthy by the other committee members left a major impression on my teenage brain and I seem to have been ranting since then.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
From the 50’s to today nothing much has made me change my mind.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Politicians look out for their own best interests and their next election…once there, they forget about the people who moved them to D.C.\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I also learned that most politicians rule from fear!\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n
Fear of losing their seats – not fear of us, the citizens!<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I’ve been talking and writing about all this for a\u00a0long time…. hence the title “rants.”<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

\u00b7 People\u2019s Park and Reagan\u2019s response<\/span><\/div>\n

Washington, D.C.<\/span><\/strong> [late 70\u2019s to late 90\u2019s]<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00b7 just living and working there and meeting politicians one on one<\/span><\/div>\n

My beliefs<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

I\u2019m firmly committed to the idea that all politics is local and no matter where I\u2019ve lived I\u2019ve walked and knocked on neighborhood doors for peace, civil rights, voter registration, progressive ideas and candidates \u2013 and attended peaceful demonstrations.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
For some of this activity, I was tear gassed and maced more times than I like to recall.<\/span><\/div>\n
