Waking Up To No Electricity

No electricity?

Uh oh!

As I pondered an unknown time with no electricity – here are some thoughts I had

Things to be grateful for

  • A French press for my coffee
  • Gas stove and hot water heater
  • Matches to ignite gas stove
  • Summer and DST
  • Good neighbors

Things to remember [there is always the “next” time]

  • Grind sufficient coffee beans the night before
  • Fully charge computer and cell phone every night

PS

I don’t use a lot of electricity, but when it goes out, I get to think about all the things I have that require electricity.

So I will be very thankful when the electricity comes back on…

And remember that the estimated time for restoration is a moving target

PPS – It finally came back and I am able to post this – phew

    Thanks for the comment….
We all adapt when we have to – don’t we? And then are, or should be, thankful for what we just “lost.”

I used to live in an area that was famous for losing power. One time we lost power for 9 days due to a freak winter storm that paralyzed the area. No heat, no water, no electric. Trees down everywhere. We relied on a wood-burning fireplace, a kerosene heater, and a camp stove. You learn real quickly to be thankful for what you sometimes take for granted. I miss living there, but I don’t miss the power outages! I’m glad you finally got your power back!
