New-ish Parent? Expecting? Congratulations and….

parenting-201-newborn

….. now you are checking out Parenting 201 – that’s great!

Why is this great?

Most parents know Parenting 101 – that’s what all those “other” people tell YOU about how to raise YOUR children.

Parenting 201 understands that your children are YOURS – not mine – and neither I nor anyone else can tell you how to raise your children.

We believe there is no magic recipe or list of “what-to-do” for raising children [much as we’d all love this] and that we all screw up as parents –

but our kids still come out okay! my son

[The photo is of my son – a great adult “in spite of ….”]

Since you are here and reading this – you are already a thinking parent or parent-to-be……

and that is great for you and for your child!!

My son says that I don’t supply easy answers; instead I give tools and ways for you to figure those answers out for yourself…..

Maybe that’s why I so love this quote from Martin Luther King, Jr.

Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think.

I guess I could say “welcome to the thinking parent site”

P.S.  This site will never be “complete.”  Like life – it is always developing and you can watch as it grows.  What is here now are combined posts from my old blogger blogs:  growing children and healthy children.

Having a website is like having a child – it’s never a done thing – and it always needs tending to – even when you don’t feel like it.

Please bookmark and keep coming back – or better yet – subscribe and then post some comments – learn from all of us who post and comment here and teach all of us too.

[I am considering a Parenting 301, the teen years – and if encouraged some more – I might yet do an e-book on parenting teens.]

I have what some consider an odd sense of humor – many like it; many don’t – but it’s kept me sane for 70+ years and I’m not about to rein it in – so read what’s here with your own brand of humor… or dash of whatever….
